Society Girl Hat

Finished my first red & purple hat! This one will be for my aunt. I have different plans for my grandma's hat - I'm thinking all red with some purple flowers at the brim. By the way, these are red and purple because they want to wear them to Red Hat Society events :)

So here is the first one completed!

This is the same pattern I used when I made my very first hat, but I did modify it a little by making the brim in the round this time. I also had some lumps, bumps and holes in the end, not sure why... and I wasn't too happy with how it came out. My friend Amber was able to work some magic by threading some more yarn from the inside and made it look a LOT better. :)

A Gift Finally Given

I recently posted about completing my Granny Warmer blanket :) It's been a long time coming but I was FINALLY able to give it to my grandma on April 20th. Her 93rd birthday was April 25th but I have it to her a little bit early. I am so thrilled with the photos I got - she was so excited and expressive!!

As you can tell, she loved it. She also loved the sparkly purple card I gave her :) When I took her home she wanted me to get a few photos of the blanket in her living room:

I took this one so you can see the teals, peaches, purples and pinks in her rug and how well the blanket goes with it.
