Project Bags

On Sunday my friend Amber and I started a project. We wanted to attempt to make some of our own project bags for keeping knitting projects in. We had purchased the fabric a while back and were finally ready to tackle it. Neither of us really had any idea what we were doing, but she does have basic sewing skills so we just went for it.

Our fabrics:

We ended up only using the pink fabric and the grey floral - we still have the brown floral left for later.

Our plan was drawstring bags with the grey floral outside and the pink fabric on the inside. We measured everything out and cut our pieces.

We made a couple two-sided bags and they came out really cute:

We also made some tree-sided bags with a triangular bottom. Again we were planning drawstring closures.

Well, unfortunately, the drawstring plan didn't work out. Our fabric was too thick. It was super tough to pull the drawstring AND the bags didn't even come close to closing all the way.

The next day we bought snaps and a tool to apply them with.

It worked out pretty well! We would have done zippers, but there was no way to make that work with the three-sided bag. It all worked out in the end... they may be a little rough around the edges but they're usable and pretty cute... we like them!

Dad's Hat

I finished my dad's hat in just two days. I went over yesterday to give it to him and he loved it! I snapped a couple pictures of the finished product :)

I did well at guessing the correct size - it fit him great! And I got to (mostly) use up that yarn so it was a good project to do.

Knitting & Tea Time

Amber with her kitty Elsie. Went over to Amber's house for some knitting time with her and her boyfriend's dad.

Working on my grandma's blanket (also at Amber's house). It is worked diagonally which is why it is currently in the shape of a triangle. Eventually it will be a big square :)

Met up with Amber this morning to knit and she wore here newly completed hoodie so I could take some photos of it for her!! This is just one, I have many more on my Flickr here if you are interested.

Hat I'm making for my dad! It's yarn I had leftover from the stripe on Ian's hat. I just started this hat yesterday and it's about halfway done now. :) Took this photo at Starbucks today while knitting with Amber & Teresa.

Went to the Huckleberry with Ian for a late lunch. It's a tea room & restaurant in Louisville that we like. Tasty food and great tea. We stocked up on a couple of our favorite loose-leaf teas from there too. Rocky Mountain Mint is my absolute favorite tea!

Sampler in Progress

Worked on my Compass Point stitch for the sampler blanket :) I ended up finishing it later in the day.

Also finished the granny square! I may have to add one more row if it's not big enough but hopefully it is.

Now I'm all done with things for class so I am working on other projects for my grandma :)

Amber's Shawl

Knitting with Amber at Starbucks today. Had to share this... she is making such a gorgeous beaded shawl!! It's just stunning.

Fan Trellis Crochet Square

Working on my Fan Trellis crochet square tonight. This is my first lacy pattern and I love how fast it goes!

My Entrelac Hat

I finished my entrelac hat!! This was my 2nd knitting project. I took a class on this. It was definitely tricky but I think it came out great. Thanks to Sarah for taking the awesome photos!!

Purple Ruffle Scarf

My purple sparkly ruffle scarf is done! I am going to be making two of these for my aunt and grandma, then eventually a couple for myself. I love how it turned out and that you can wear it several ways! Thanks Sarah for taking these great photos.

Finished!!

I just finished my entrelac hat!!! I can hardly believe it!!

Basketweave

Started my basetweave crochet pattern swatch today while coming home from Estes Park. This is one of 9 squares that will be in my crochet sampler blanket I’m making for class.

Crochet Class

My new crochet class started tonight and it was intense! We picked all 9 stitches for our sampler blanket. I made this chart to plan out where my stitches and colors will go:

I learned the Fan Trellis stitch in class tonight:

I learned 3 stitches total and I am supposed to get all 3 squares completed before the next class in a week... yikes! But so much fun :)

Sarah Knitting
